2666 is a monstrous novel, in every conceivable way. Perhaps the only writer of international inter. While I certainly don't take everything he says or writes as gospel, his distaste of Bolaño sours my enjoyment of the novel. 2666, a novel by Chilean writer, Roberto Bolano, was published posthumously in 2004. 2666 opens with a novel about four European literary critics, academics, who specialize in the work of a fictional German novelist, Benno von Archimboldi. Several days ago, I came out with a rather clumsy post (mostly written during my lunch break) comparing "The Part About Archimboldi" to a novel by Jakov Lind called Landscape in Concrete. 3666: A Novel by Roberto Bolano [Audiobook] 3119 | 39 hours and 39 mins | ISBN: 3633399619 | MP3 96KBps | 3.6GB. 2666 is the literary testament of the Latin-American writer--as he called himself--Roberto Bolaño. That's not something very many people are willing to do. Obviously there's a part of me that applauds the willingness of all three critics, at a time when 2666 was the Hot Hot Book in the US, to swim against the current. Even the critical praise is monstrous, from the 2008 National Book Critics Circle Award to Time's Best Fiction Book of the same year.
